Support for Pre-Treatment, Post-Treatment, and Sober Living
Yellowknife, NT Canada
Protect Your Path offers a unique, community-based approach to recovery that blends professional counselling with sober, culturally grounded activities. Our goal is to help people build a healthier, more connected life—whether they’re preparing to go to treatment, coming home from treatment, or simply choosing to live sober.
We focus on all stages of recovery, with special attention to the transition period after treatment. This is often when people feel most vulnerable, facing emotional challenges and old triggers. That’s why we provide timely, supportive programming that helps people stay grounded and moving forward.
Our team includes experienced Indigenous counsellors and a certified life coach who understand the cultural, emotional, and spiritual layers of healing. Together, they offer support through:
Addiction and trauma counselling
One-on-one life coaching
Land-based and cultural activities
Sober recreation and skill-building
Some of the activities we offer include:
Trapline setting
Snowshoeing
Traditional sewing
Hiking and berry picking
Fishing and ice fishing
Water sports like canoeing and kayaking
Survival skills and teepee teachings
Cooking classes and shared meals
Bowling nights, swimming, and movie outings
We believe fun is an important part of healing. When people experience joy and connection in sobriety, it helps reduce stress, build confidence, and create lasting change.
Protect Your Path is open to adults of all genders, including those who may face barriers to other types of support. By combining culture, counselling, and community, we help people take the next step toward a stronger, more purposeful life.
Pending approval, programming will be open to Yellowknife residents starting July 1st with the following schedule:
Filling the Gaps in Recovery Support
Protect Your Path is here for people in Yellowknife who are preparing to go to treatment, returning from treatment, or choosing to live a sober life. Many individuals face a critical gap in care during early recovery—when the risk of relapse is highest. This is often made even harder by challenges like trauma, homelessness, and mental health struggles.
Our program is designed to bridge that gap with a full day of support that includes:
Counselling and life coaching to build emotional strength and set personal goals
Traditional cultural activities to reconnect with identity and community
Sober recreational programming that brings joy, structure, and social connection
These supports work together to keep recovery strong and steady. They are especially helpful for those returning from treatment who don’t have stable housing or consistent support systems in place.
Right now, there are limited options for culturally grounded, community-based recovery supports in Yellowknife—especially for people outside of formal systems. Protect Your Path fills that gap, offering meaningful opportunities for healing, reconnection, and long-term success in sobriety.
